You might want to talk to your doctor about a nasal steroid spray such as Nasonex. Some of these are more effective than Benadryl, and absorbed LESS into your system, because they are applied right where they need to be.
I've used a combination of Claritin and a nasal steroid when my allergies are at their worst (with a little Sudafed thrown in for the very bad days). I only noticed a reduction when the Sudafed was in the mix too. Good luck!
