Jessica,

I belong to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of thought on this. If he's happy & you're happy, who gives a hoot what anyone outside your relationship thinks?

Breastfeeding doesn't lose it's benefits after the arbitrary age of 1 year, and you're still doin wht's est for your baby. He's doing well, and it sounds as though you're doing well, too.

I'd politely thank my friends & family for their input, and then ask them not to offer it anymore. :)

I nursed my oldest daughter for about 18 months several times a daygradually weaning over the next 6 months. It was a wonderful way for us to stay connected even as she began to explore her world.
